What is the UTR Rating?
The UTR Rating is a global tennis rating that identifies and reflects a player’s current skill level based on head-to-head match scores, and rates all players across age, gender, and nationality on the same 16-point scale.
How is the UTR Rating calculated?
The UTR rating calculates a player’s standard by looking at their past 30 eligible matches within 12 months.

What does my rating number mean?
The UTR Rating scale from 1.00 to 16.50 provides you with accurate playing standard based on your results. 1.00 being a complete beginner in Tennis, up to 16.50 being the top pro’s.
How do you get a UTR Rating?
You will need to register and activate your UTR Rating. Current players may have already completed these steps. To register and activate for your UTR Rating, click HERE to find out more.
Why are some players ratings displayed two decimal places and others only one, or none?
Dependent on a players age, the displayed rating will vary:
Age | Ratings display | Rating display example |
Under 9 years | Whole number | 4 |
10-12 years | Whole number with one decimal | 4.2 |
13+ years | Whole number with two decimals | 4.78 |
Why is my UTR missing from my Match Centre profile?
If you are of the appropriate age to have a rating displayed, but are currently unable to view your rating on Match Centre, this is due to having not activated your UTR Rating.
Log in to your Match Centre profile and click the ‘Activate my UTR Rating’ button and follow the required steps. Information on how to activate your UTR Rating can be found HERE.
How often are my UTR Ratings updated?
UTR Ratings for domestic play in Australia will be updated on a weekly basis as of a Tuesday.
Each Tuesday the updated UTR Rating will be published to your profile (available by logging in to Match Centre) to view.

How can my UTR be used to enter events or leagues?
Using your UTR Rating you may view the competition matrix and cross reference your age to see which series of events is recommended for you. These events will provide you with the best competitive match possible.
Do I still have a ranking, or can I still see a ranking list?
The top 64 Australian players within specific age and gender categories will be displayed via tennis.com.au/competitiveplay. Players outside the top 64 will be able to view their rating only.
The previous Australian Ranking system is no longer in use.
Will UTR Ratings be used in leagues?
The UTR Rating will incrementally be introduced across 2022.
What matches will count towards my UTR Ratings?
Australian Competitive Play Endorsed Events will contribute towards your UTR Rating.
If your League is currently contributing to the UTR Rating, this will continue from 1 January If you are not sure if your league is currently contributing, please contact your local League deliverer or Member Association to find out more.
